Busted

Max-"Are you ready?"
Liz-"Yeah, I think so."
Max-"Liz, you don't have to do this."
Liz-"No, Max. We're in this together. That's what we said, together to the end."

Liz-"Down! Down! Now! Get Down!"
Max-"Do what she says! She's crazy!"

"So, I was wondering if you wanted to, you know, see me?" Max asked shyly.

Liz looked at him for a moment, as if considering the consequences of saying yes. "You mean, like on a date?"

"Just somewhere we can talk. I just want to try to start over, Liz," he said seriously, his eyes full of the knowledge of what he had done; how he had hurt her.

Max walked toward the Crashdown door, almost overwhelmed by the feelings. He wanted, with all his heart, for this to work. Liz opened the door and he swung out a huge bouquet of white roses that had been hidden behind his back.

"You look amazing," he told her, taking in the beauty of her face, her shining hair and the sweet little pink dress. She was gorgeous!

Liz smiled as she accepted the roses. "They're my favorite. Thank you," she said, her voice shaky, her feelings so evident cross her face, in her eyes. "So, where are we going?" she asked, not caring, as long as it was with Max.

He looked mysteriously at her. "It's a surprise," he told her. He headed toward his car to open the door gallantly as she followed him. Liz would follow him anywhere. In spite of everything, she still loved him...had faith in him. Her face wore a smile of pure happiness.

"It's kind of dark," she whispered. Max looked at her for a second, turned and made the trees alight, the dock twinkle with tiny lights. Liz turned to him, that look she got when he used his powers to make her happy.

"I just want to put everything that happened behind us," he said, humbly. "Please let me try."
