"Yeah," she sighed. "I know that I would too if I had impregnated an alien killer who murdered one of my friends and then left the planet with my unborn child." She stood close to him, looking up into those eyes, those eyes that had told her she was the one...the only one.

"I'm so very sorry, Liz. I would never have hurt you on purpose. I don't really understand why I did what I did. I know I'd never hurt you if I could help it. I felt like no one cared. I know it was my fault. Please believe me. I'd never hurt you on purpose," his voice deepened with emotion. "Do you hate me now?"

"It's hard not to, Max," she whispered, her hand going involuntarily to his cheek. "See, you slept with Tess and got her pregnant. I don't know how to just whip past that. You.....you hurt me, you know?"

He took a deep breath, let it out slowly, took her hands in his. "Liz. I need you to forgive me. I honestly thought you didn't care about me anymore. I had lost my sister, my friends..............you. My world was falling apart. I tried to find out about my home planet. You were my love...my life and you didn't want me. I know what I did is unforgivable but..............forgive me?", his face a mask of sorrow, his eyes wet with the tears of someone who had suffered over a decision gone horribly wrong. He slid his hands onto her face, softly touching her cheeks, reminding her of another time, so long ago, another time when he had held her face like this. "If I could take it all back, if I could change it all, I would. My mind can't even comprehend what I did. Liz, I need you to know how I really feel."

He looked deep into her eyes, saw that she wanted this and he felt her mind go blank. His love flooded into her thoughts. Liz saw how much he had suffered, how much he loved her. She felt his reluctant worry about his son. Her hands slipped up to his face. Max felt her love slam into him.

He leaned his forehead to touch hers. "Can you, Liz can you? I need you to forgive me."

"It's not that simple," she sighed.

"Liz, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. I know now that my place is here.........with you. I was going with her because of the child, only because of my son. I never wanted to go but I had to, to make sure he was safe. Can you understand that? You're the only reason for me to.....you're my only reason. I want to be with you," Max spoke carefully, his voice soothing her.

"Tess is pregnant with your child. What about your son?" Liz said, the pain evident in her voice. Her voice trembled as she asked the questions she had wanted to for so long.

" I have no excuse other than I was hurting and I felt lost." His wet eyes told the truth. "And my son? There's nothing I can do about that. He's going to be born in another world.....a world I have nothing to do with. I understand that. It's over. I just want to make everything all right here, on Earth, with you," he told her earnestly. "Liz, you've paid alot to know me. You've been hurt and put in danger. Now, I want to make that up to you. I want to make your dreams come true. Will you let me do that? Please let me do that."

Liz looked at the boy who had saved her life that day. She saw the man he would become, the \man she wanted to be with. She could walk away...leaving him standing here on this dock. He had hurt her so much, ripped her heart out when he broke her trust. But Liz knew, she knew that she had set all this in motion. She had pushed and pushed and he had finally fallen. He wasn't perfect, far from it, but he was the boy she loved, would always love with all her heart. She would never leave him alone.

"My dreams, Max? I only have one," she whispered as she tiptoed up to gently brush her lips cross his, hearing him let out a huge sigh. "Now, I need to tell you a story, something that happened a few months ago. I think it's time you heard it. Maybe it will help us begin to mend�.."

Liz-"So, I've broken, like, 12 of my mom's rules already."
Max-"Rules? She has rules?"
Liz-"Well, yeah. Since I told her that you broke my heart, without any of the alien details, of course, she thinks we should just take things slow, just dinner, then straight home. No plans for future dates.........no makin' out !"
Max-"So, I suppose skinny dipping would be against the rules too?"


Liz-"Uh huh....What are you doing, Max? No, no, this is not happening. Okay - you've made your point. It's not that funny. You can stop now. What? No! Max! Max - I can't believe you're gonna do this."
Max-"Whooo! Come on in. It's beautiful."
Liz-"No, it's not. It's obviously freezing."
Max-"Come on, Liz. This is something we'll tell our grandchildren about. Come on, Liz... Come on."

Liz-"Fine! Okay? Fine! Grandchildren? What are they gonna be, 3 feet tall and green? But hey...I'm not taking my underwear off. And if my mother, like, ever ever hears about this, you are, like, so dead. Okay? Do we have a deal? Max? Oh...........Max! Is that a deal? Max? Huh? Max? Max! Max, Oh My God!"
